NSB of Norway electric railcar from 1956

"NSB BM 68 was a train that represented the staid and safe NSB and the train that always went whatever the weather. Many folks felt at home on this train."

The 30 three-car sets were built in two series: 1956–1958, 1960–1961. The first series of 21 was delivered to NSB from 1956 to 1958 as type Bmeo 68a, from 1970, BM 68. The motor cars were built by Norsk Elektrisk & Brown Boveri and Skabo while the centre and end cars were built either by Skabo or by Strømmen. Total length was 63 metres and the number of seats was 168. Total weight was about 108 tonnes. The total output of the motorised car was 870 hp and maximum speed was 100 km/h. They could run in multiple with NSB classes BM65, BM67 and BM68b.

BM68a motor carriages were in operation until 2002 after which three sets were sold to the Ofotbanen.
