Its a 1954 Chevrolet Suburban, a people carrier/wagon based on the 'Advanced Design' series of pickups first seen in 1947 and replaced with a completely new model in March 1955. This one looks to be the version with a 'tailgate' (Model 3116), rather than the Model 3106 with the rear panel doors. Nineteen fifty four was the first year that automatic transmission was available in these.
Picture taken on the abandoned(in 1955) Marshall Pass line of the D&RG(W), between Salida and Montrose via Gunnison, that formed the original 3ft gauge Mainline between Denver and Salt Lake City/Ogden.
