the 'Normandie' liner, 1935

L'Illustration was a weekly news magazine akin to the Illustrated London News and lasted for just over a century: 1843 to 1944.  It continued being published during the years of German occupation and after Liberation in August 1944, it was judged to have been an organ of collaboration and was banned.
