NSW police to shoot first to prevent further deaths at the hands of terrorists

NSW police are being trained to shoot first when dealing with armed attackers in a bid to prevent further deaths at the hands of terrorists.

Acting NSW Police Commissioner Nick Kaldas said that rather than seeking to "contain and negotiate", officers are now being given FBI-style training to gun down armed attackers immediately.

"One of the features of terrorism is these people are not like normal criminals, their mentality is entirely different. They don't want to get captured and they may well be prepared to die. They're jihadis, we've got to act differently."
