1939 Plymouths

Obviously the De Luxe version had four doors, presumably there were other differences too.

  1. The Deluxe (P8 series) was Plymouth's higher price model in 1939. The lower price model was the Roadking (P7) and sold for about 10% less, body style for body style. The Deluxe models had column gear shift where the Roadking retained floor shift and the Deluxe models had a new 'Safety Signal' speedo which changed colours as speed increased. Both models were available in a range of body styles. The Deluxe model is distinguishable from the outside by its full length chrome strip. The strip on the Roadking ended part way along the bonnet sides.

The Deluxe 2 door sedan and 4 door sedans seen here sold for about $760 and $795 respectively.
