Kb class 4-8-4 in Dunedin, 1940

A very new Kb 970 in front of the locomotive sheds.  It is clad in what has normally been described as streamlining, although it is hard to see how that description can really be applied as the square-on front would cause more wind resistance than without it and they looked better without it, too.  In any event it was dispensed with after WW2.  See our books for lots more.
