cars at Waikanae Motor Camp, 1949

We'll leave it to others to identify them. An extra big version is here

  1. The car closest is a 1935 Austin 10. On the right is a 1933 Vauxhall Light Six. Behind the Vauxhall is a 1936 Hudson. At the far left rear is a 1937 Ford V8. Just behind the Austin 10 is a Morris 8 Series E. The black car in the centre is a just post-WW2 Austin 8 and beside it with its grille obscured is a Rover P3 which could be pre or post WW2. The car with the oval rear window looks a little like a circa 1937-39 Willys but I am not sure.

  2. Correction, the "Austin 8' is actually a Ford Prefect.

  3. Ahh, the old "Frosty Jack" ice-cream. What percentage of Kiwi's remember that one?

  4. According to nzicecream.org.nz Frosty Jack icecream, made by Frozen Products Ltd, began in Wellington in 1924. "Around 1966, Frozen Products Ltd. was sold to the Vestey Group (UK-based meat processors, and Blue Star Line shipping). Vestey sold the Palmerston North and Papatoetoe factories on to Unilever in 1967.

"At this point the Frosty Jack brand disappeared, as Unilever introduced its own brand, Wall's."
