One of the DVDs we watched last Easter (and it's worth watching the DVD for the bonus features, including how it was made) was this from director Lars von Trier; set in Germany a few months after the end of WW2, in which an American of German parents goes to Germany to become a sleeping car conductor on Zentropa (an obvious reference to the Mitropa company set up in Germany after WW1 as competition to the CIWL). It was one of the three movies forming Lars von Trier's Europa trilogy.
As all the scenes occur at night and the movie is in black and white except for some sparse inserted color, it is a 'noir' film in more ways than one. It should have ample to interest European railfans.
