trophies at Waikouaiti, Otago region, late 19th century

The dude with the Father Christmas beard on the right has certainly been busy with a rifle.  It makes clear why rabbits quickly became such a major pest in the country.  It's hard to make out what the 'luggage' to the left consists of, but it could be more dead rabbits.  This is a small town on the South Island Main Trunk but the station is history.  A racecourse behind the photographer is still a feature of the town.
