Lockheed Lodestar and Hudson advert, 1939

Both were introduced about this time: the Hudson light bomber and coastal reconnaissance aircraft, built initially for the Royal Air Force, was first flown in September 1938, the Lodestar 18 passenger transport, used primarily by the US Army Air Corps, a year later.
