blast off for space age transport art, Soviet Union, 1952

Produced for the cover of an issue of the Soviet equivalent of Modern Mechanics and just as weird.  It doesn't seem as if this is a notion for outer space travel as such rockets go straight up from the launch site.  Presumably city residents would get used to the noise. There is the slight issue of how it would land, but who cares about that?
