U.S. freight railroads continue to record big volume increases

This monthly chart extract on the Association of American Railroads website shows that business from all sources except coal has increased significantly over 2013 and the industry is now as busy as it was before the recession.

The increased volume of business has, however, seen a slow down in service speeds which the railroads are doing their best to address with more track, locomotives and train crews.
