old Wellington tugs depart

The two old red Voith-tugs, Toia and Ngahue, at Wellington sailed this afternoon for Port Moresby (for bunkering), thence Singapore, Galle and Dubai. Toia dates from 1972 and Ngahue from 1977.

In the last few years, CentrePort has bought the Asian-built tugs Tapuhi (2012) and Tiaki (2007), which each have bollard pulls of 68 tonnes -- more than twice the 28-tonne pulls of Toia and Ngahue.

Thanks to Mike Pryce for sending in this pic.
