The Napier to Gisborne railway was opened in 1944, Steven Joyced in 2012. As detailed in this Radio NZ report, the Hawkes Bay Regional Council has now offered $5.5 million to repair the line and have it operating again - will the central government take heed or is Steven Joyce's attitude too firmly entrenched?
