KB 965 with a West Coast express passes through Addington, Christchurch, 1947

At least we assume it is a West Coast express as the 6 KB variants of the 4-8-4 K series were built specifically for the Canterbury side of the Midland Line, but they did see service on the Main South Line too.  For more, see our books.
