Union Express, South Africa, 1928

This train began operation in 1923 intended to take passengers from Johannesburg to the ships departing from Cape Town to the UK, and vice versa. The Union Express introduced luxury features such as a dining saloon in 1933 and air-conditioned carriages in 1939. The postwar successor was the Blue Train. This artwork was based on a photo, on this webpage.
