traffic in Cromwell, 1970s

At top is a view of Cromwell township showing the former road bridge across the Clutha River and the Kawarau River at left. Second is a view by Tony Hurst of the Cromwell railway station and yard in 1975; apart from the railway vehicles there is a 1960s Ford Cortina, Bedford truck and a Holden station wagon.

Things have since changed considerably.  What happened to it all?  Discover the history in Tony Hurst's book The Otago Central Railway: a  tribute.
