recreating history at Wellington Station, almost

A Steam Inc train headed by its Da 1431 is seen at Wellington Station with an excursion train last December.  From 1967 to the arrival of the Dx diesels in the 1970s this was how longer distance trains appeared.  The elements that are recent, however, are the ditch lights, the Matangi in the background, the yellow stand clear platform marking and the pedestrian bridge to the rail yard stadium. In practice the locos were rarely this clean, too. (Edward Law)
