DSB IC4 diesel multiple unit set in Copenhagen main station

These 4-car, 4-engine (2240 kW or 3000 hp output) inter-city trains were built by the Italian train manufacturer AnsaldoBreda for the trans-Great Belt routes of Danske Statsbaner (DSB) with the intent of replacing several types of outdated rolling stock. However, various delays turned the project into a major political issue. The IC4 units were originally scheduled to enter DSB's Intercity service in 2003, but it was not until 25 June 2007 that one IC4 unit (trainset no. 4) entered regional service between Aarhus and Aalborg.  Of the 82 sets, 24 were in service as at 1 February 2014.  More
