another major vehicle recall by Toyota

After its very expensive recall in 2009 of cars which experienced "unintended acceleration" comes the need for another substantial recall involving nearly 30 different Toyota models.

In NZ the number of vehicles affected in 2009 was only about 60, but this time the number is put at around 30,000.

In the United States the recall involves 1.3 million vehicles: certain 2009-2010 Corolla, 2009-2010 Matrix, 2008-2010 Highlander, 2009-2010 Tacoma, 2006-2008 RAV4 and 2006-2010 Yaris vehicles

It also involves approximately 472,500 vehicles consisting of certain 2006-2010 Yaris Hatchback vehicles (approximately 158,000); certain 2007-2010 Yaris Sedan vehicles (approximately 250,500); and certain 2008-2010 Scion xD vehicles (approximately 64,000).
