"'Pullman from lunch to dinner". This was the year the train became a luxury service and was extended from Paris to Brussels (which began in 1924) to Amsterdam, and operated jointly by the CdF du Nord, the SNCB and the NS. In 1939 the outbreak of WW2 caused the cessation of train which did not recommence until 1946, initially as a Rapide. In 1957, it became a first-class-only Trans Europ Express (TEE). In June 1984, it was downgraded to a two-class InterCity; three years later, it was reclassified as one of the inaugural EuroCity trains. On 2 June 1996, it was replaced by an unnamed Thalys service.
