the end of the Otago Central Railway at Cromwell


Another aerial photo by Whites Aviation taken in April 1947 that was considered for, but not used in the book The Otago Central Railway: a tribute by Tony Hurst for the same reason.

This was as far as the railway got, but it is not part of the Otago Central Rail Trail as the Clyde to Cromwell section was drowned in the early 1990s for the hydro-power dam at Clyde - thus the scenic Cromwell Gorge became the artificial Lake Dunstan.  For more, see that book.
