the 'Shanghai Maru'


The SS Shanghai Maru was a Japanese passenger ship of 5,252 gross register tons built in 1923 by William Denny & Brothers, Dumbarton, for Nippon Yusen Kaisha of Tokyo, Japan. The length was 120.4 metres x 16.52 metres breadth. In 1939 she was purchased by Toa Kaiun KK of Tokyo. On 30 October 1943 she was sunk after a collision with the Sakito Maru, about 75 miles North-East of Shanghai.
