These were manufactured from 1961 to 1982 at the Škoda factory in what is now the Czech Republic in Ostrov nad Ohří. A total of 722 vehicles were supplied to cities throughout the former Czechoslovakia; the last 9Tr operating was taken off the road in Jihlava in May 1997. At least one has been preserved operational in Pilsen.
