storm damage to Wellington railway tracks

 

Wellington is known as the "windy city", and while it doesn't blow all the time, it is noted for fierce southerly winds, and that last Thursday evening was one of the strongest since Wahine Day in 1968. A big clean-up task is taking place at present and insurance companies will probably have their busiest time since the 2011 Christchurch earthquake.
