sulphur loading on bulk carrier ships, Vancouver, Canada

Sulphur is a byproduct in the processing of natural gas and oil in Alberta, Saskatchewan and northern B.C. and until China began its rapid growth, it was hard for gas and oil companies to find any market for it.  The price for it rapidly increased about 5 years ago and sulphur, one of the biggest Canadian exports by volume each year through the Vancouver port, is now a star performer among Canadian commodities.
