the Tumbarumba branch, NSW, Australia


We're posting this more because it is one of the great Aussie placenames than this pic itself... The line branched from the Main South line at Wagga Wagga and passed through Tarcutta to the Tumbarumba town, opening in stages from 1917 to 1921. Passenger services on the line in the final years comprised the quaint CPH railmotors (see earlier post) and the line was essentially closed in 1987 although much of it is still in place.
