steam train at Simla, viewed from the Taradevi Gap

Not Simla Crescent in Wellington, but Simla in India, although of course that is the origin of the name of the Wellington street and its railway station on the Johnsonville line.

Shimla is the capital of Himachal Pradesh and a popular hill station in North India in the Himalayas. Shimla was the summer capital of India during British rule, when it was spelled Simla.  A postcard from circa 1900.
