At Paris Gare de Lyon in SNCF days no. 262 BD1 ex-PLM is seen with an express to Dijon. |
Two diesel-electrics of the type 2-Co-2+2-Co-2 were built as prototypes in 1937 by the PLM company (which became part of the SNCF at the beginning of 1938). These had a weight of 230 tonnes, a length of 33 metres and a total prime mover output of 4,400 hp. They were intended to provide services from Paris to Menton without the need for 4 changes of locomotive along the route with steam.
A poster showing a rather more sloped front than they actually had.
