cars in Long Beach, Washington, early 1960s

First on the left is a 1955 Pontiac Star Chief, then a 1959 Chevrolet; first in the centre heading away from the camera is a 1963 Corvette Stingray.

  1. The third car coming toward the camera on the left is a beautiful 1953 Packard, a name that rivalled Cadillac's and which dated back to the earliest part of the 20th Century. The company merged with Studebaker in order to stay alive in 1954, but by 1958 the Packard name was gone, sadly. Studebaker held on in the U.S. until the mid-1960s and then moved production to Canada. It, too, folded despite the initial popularity of its Lark model and the beauty of its Hawk sports cars.
