NZ First is NZ's anti-immigrant party (albeit mildly so) but these comments were a bit much for Richard Prosser's leader Winston Peters, let alone the political correctness brigade:
NZ Herald article
"I will not stand by while my daughters' rights and freedoms, and
those of other New Zealanders and Westerners, are denigrated by a sorry
pack of misogynist troglodytes from 'Wogistan', threatening our way of
life and security of travel in the name of stone-age religion, and its
barbaric attitudes women, democracy and individual choice."
In todays world something written or said can be instantly global . I think many are scared of what Mr Prosser said, bringing NZ onto the world stage of terrorism threats at home or overseas.
ReplyDeleteI recall the stir British MP Enoch Powell made in the 60's when he forewarned of the surge of immigrants entering Britain from Pakistan and India and how cultural values would be challenged.amongst other things. He was scorned for that....but look what happened to parts of UK.
There is a relevent old saying:- "when in Rome do as the Romans do". Muslims would do well to heed that when they choose to live in Western countries where they represent a conspicuous small minority and their religion is viewed as neanderthal, misogynistic and extremely violent.
