more Feather River Canyon scenes, California

The California Zephyr used to run through the Feather River Canyon in Western Pacific days but was transferred to the Donner Pass route in 1983.

The Pulga Bridges (the upper one is for a highway) have often featured in calendar shots.

The very scenic Feather River Canyon railway route was built by Western Pacific in the 1900s and used by them until 1982 when WP was acquired by Union Pacific.  The route provides an alternative to the Donner Pass route from Roseville, California, into Nevada, and as its maximum elevation is lower and gradients gentler, it is preferred by UP; however, unlike Donner Pass, the Feather River Canyon is mostly single track.
