the railway bridge over the Rhein at Mainz, Germany

This bridge, officially known as the Südbrücke, is just over 1 km long and 12.6 metres wide. It was originally opened in 1862, and following the inevitable high explosive treatment at the end of WW2, was reopened again in 1949, including the restoration of some of the towerwork shown.
