SNCF BB 900 class electric locomotives ex-Etat

Two of the 35 units built over 1936-1937 by Alsthom for the Chemins de Fer de l'Etat network; these locomotives were extrapolated from the E 4700 class of  the Midi network.

The series was assigned to the depot of Montrouge for use on heavy freight service on the newly electrified Paris-Le Mans route.  In the 1960s they were renovated which included removing the font doors. By the mid 1970s all were based at the depot of Limoges.

They were withdrawn from 1982 to 1987.
