Italian 3-phase AC locomotive from 1928
Number E554.009 seen at Cuneo. This class, one of the developments from the earlier E550 class, was intended for both freight and passenger trains and was equipped with an oil boiler for steam heating of passenger cars.
The FS's 3-phase AC electric system disappeared in 1976 in favor of the 3 kV DC system.
