A postcard view late 1910s of Hastings Street in Napier. Electric trams in Napier began on 8 September 1913 when a Napier council-owned service opened to Port Ahuriri. They ended with the Hawke's Bay earthquake with a magnitude of 7.9 on the Richter scale at 10:46 am on 3 February 1931. The trams ceased completely, later replaced with buses.
