the best protest against annoying airport security

While on the subject on travel frustrations... one of the best protests so far against the invasive and irritating airport security checks was by John E. Brennan of Portland, Oregon, who in April decided to walk through security naked to prove he wasn't carrying any explosives in his clothes.  He was charged with indecent exposure, but the judge found him not guilty.  Story

There are lots of other people who feel similarly. As an example, a 20 something bus driver in Boston told us she was going to Charleston in South Carolina by Amtrak because she hated flying.

Flying internationally to or from the US is even more of an ordeal than domestic flying, particularly from Europe.  Our recent experience wasn't helped by recent newcomer on the New York route, Brussels Airlines, who seem pretty incompetent - among other things they managed to lose one of our suitcases on a single direct flight!

  1. It appears the TSA has an appalling record, apparently full of power-mad moronic buffoons. As far as I'm aware they've never caught any terrorist.

The new security scanners are a big scandal in the US too.

  2. No they have not caught a single would-be terrorist. "Moronic buffoons" describes our experience at Brussels too - no less than 4 four passport checks (one involving everybody standing in line at the gate for about an hour) - and two pat downs. Was all that ordered by the TSA or was it just Brussels Airlines?
