stone arch bridge at Minneapolis, Minnesota


A 21-arch bridge (plus one steel-deck truss span) over the Mississippi River built in 1883 for the Great Northern Railway with two tracks; now a pedestrian and bicyclist bridge.

Total length: 2,100 feet (640 meters)
Width: 28 feet (8.5 meters)
Longest span: 197.5 feet (60.2 meters) (channel span)
Clearance above water: 24.4 feet (7.4 meters)
Closed as a railway bridge: 1978
