Southern Pacific's Pecos River high bridge, Texas

The first postcard shows the first bridge, near Del Rio, designed by SP chief engineer Julius Kruttschnitt, and completed in 1892. The second shows the replacement bridge built 1943-1944. The original remained in place until 1949.
