rails in Rodez

Views taken in the early 20th century of the Tramway de Rodez, a small 3.8 km metre-gauge system which operated from 1902 to only 1920.  The town of Rodez is located on a rocky outcrop between two rivers. The station could only be constructed in a valley about 2 km from and below the town centre.  This situation resulted in the electric tramway between the station and the town centre intended for goods as well as passenger transport.

Rodez train station is the main railway station of the Aveyron and one of the largest in the Midi-Pyrénées, with lines to Capdenac, Albi and Severac-le-Chateau. Rodez is the center of a "star" of three rail branches formed by the lines to Paris, Toulouse and Severac-le-Chateau. The rail network in connection with this station has undergone many reorganizations in recent years, notably through the Midi-Pyrénées "plain rail"  Next door, built in 2006, is the multimodal centre, allowing train-bus connections with the departmental and regional network Octobus.
A view looking south at the Gare de Parire to the west of the town centre, the Rue de Paraire is the street crossing the track.  At the time, these lines were operated by the Midi company.
