Allentown, Pennsylvania, then and now

A postcard from the 1940s, with a 1937 Ford V8 pickup nearest the camera (see below).  The trolley overhead wire and tracks can be discerned - Lehigh Valley Transit street trolleys operated east-west along the length of Hamilton Street, and also north and south along 8th Street until 1952; the major transit station downtown was at the intersection of 8th Street & Hamilton.

Allentown was immortalised in a Billy Joel song, inspired by the closure of Bethlehem Steel, some years ago.
