TranzAlpine passenger train at the top of Cass Bank, NZ

A summer view of the mountains of the Southern Alps with nearly all the snow melted, at the beginning of the long downhill gradient for westbound trains known as Cass Bank; for eastbound trains it is the opposite, and the station of Cass is about half way on it. This photo was used in the previous edition of On the TransAlpine Trail, but not the present edition.
