Platform 1 at Wellington station: "Sitting or standing on buffers is strictly prohibited". Aside from the question of why anyone would want to, given that there is a proper seat next to it, you wonder what KiwiRail is worried about - that the train won't stop in time and crash into it? That did happen with a train once in 1972 (see the book Danger Ahead for details), but it is hardly a regular event. (Wallace Trickett)
