Mother Grundy of Clear Creek Canyon, Colorado

A curious natural feature on the line of what began as the Colorado and Clear Creek Railroad Company in 1865, three years later changed to the Colorado Central Railroad.  Unlike other Colorado mountain lines, for example, of the Denver and Rio Grande, this line was built in standard gauge.  The mountain lines of this company were gone by the mid-20th century but a few lines on the eastern plains still survive, part of the BNSF system.
