the inter-island ferry Arahura

Generally considered the best Cook Strait ferry that NZ has had is the Danish built Arahura from 1983.

This painting by Wallace Trickett shows the ship prior to some modifications.  For a full pictorial history of the ferry ships between the North and South Island, see the book Strait Crossing: the ferries of Cook Strait through time by Vic Young.
