old MTA Boston train at Charlestown City Square, 1958

A four-car electric third rail train from 1927 seen on 8 February 1958, repainted in the livery of the trains that are about to replace them. The Charlestown Elevated was a former link of Boston's Orange Line rapid transit line that ran from a portal at North Station, near the old Boston Garden, to the city of Everett, Massachusetts. It was rerouted to Malden via an underground route and demolished in 1975, the first of two major realignments of the Orange Line.
