Hamburg traffic modes, 1976


A view of an elevated section of the Hamburg U-Bahn near the Vorsetzen.  (Doesn't U-Bahn mean underground and not elevated, you ask?)  This system began operation in 1912 and presently has a network of about 100 km of which 40% is underground, in standard gauge, electrified with third rail DC.

A selection of mid-1970s mostly German cars are in the foreground and in the distant background a glimpse of a ship in the harbour area.
