A coloured postcard issued by the Gray Line to promote its new Z-29 bus, a model produced from 1924 to 1932, the 29 a reference to the number of seats.
The Yellow Coach Manufacturing Company was an early US bus manufacturer founded in Chicago as a subsidiary of the Yellow Cab Company in 1923 by John D. Hertz (who 30 years later went on to buy back from GM and float his Hertz Rental Car Company). GM bought a majority stake in 1925, changing the name to Yellow Truck and Coach Manufacturing Company. They then bought the rest of the shares in 1943, merging it into their GM Truck Division to form GM Truck & Coach Division.
