The daily Wellington to Napier (and return) passenger train, the Endeavour, is seen not far from the Palmerston North side of the Manawatu Gorge. The loco headboard was dispensed with in later years, and the car colours later changed to the revamped scheme of the late 1980s. For more info, see our books. (NZR)
