Flinders Street Station, Melbourne

Opened in 1910, the huge Flinders Street Station in Melbourne is arguably Australia's second best known building after the Sydney Opera House, and although its presence has been dwarfed somewhat by Melbourne's skyscrapers in recent years, it still attests to the grandeur of railways in its era, and is still a magnificent building by anyone's standards. Each weekday, over 110,000 commuters use it and some 1,500 trains pass through the station.

The first colored postcard was probably made in the station's first few years, the second photo was taken in 1928 (trams still cross here) and the aerial view which shows the station in the left corner near the bottom next to the Yarra River was taken in 1967 - the skyline has grown since then.
